Quiet Mutiny's Carbon Offsets for 2021

Posted by Greer Carland on

As a producer of wine, we are thankful for what the Earth can give us, and are becoming increasingly aware of our footprint on the planet. As such, we are offsetting our carbon emissions from the 2021 vintage. The world is warming and the temperature of the climate is so specific to grape quality. We are going to do our bit for the planet. It may not be perfect, but we want to take action.

Researching some industry benchmarks and assuming our small wine business is at the higher end of the benchmarks, we have calculated our carbon emissions for the 2021 vintage to be 9.6 Tonnes of CO2e.

The projects we are investing in to offset these excess emissions are reforestation projects on degraded, unused land to restore the natural habitat through planting a mix of native trees and shrubs that are indigenous to the area. We can achieve this by teaming up with Carbon Positive Australia, which adhere to the standards and methodologies set out by the Australian Emissions Reduction Fund.
